From Seed to humidor and at nearly every key moment in history, women have been central to Its economic success and social symbolism.
“Smoking Hot” explores the craft of skilled Torcedoras in Havana, the hands of women tobacco workers in the field and factory, the historical use of female imagery in the selling of cigars, the expertise of female cigar sommeliers, and the rise of a new empowered image for women with the cigar as a symbol of reclaimed self-assurance and equality.
