Synopsis
On the northeastern edge of Prague, a unique social experiment called Homeless Blues offers people without shelter not expulsion, but a chance: a cabin to live in, work opportunities, and restored dignity.
Shot over the course of one year, the documentary follows several residents of this improvised community — Margita, living alone among her animals; long-term partners Karla and Martin preparing for their wedding; Karel, a talented carpenter unable to break free from the settlement; and lesbian couple Hanka and Naďa, building a fragile but hopeful new life under a highway overpass.
Guided by field worker Karel Valenta, who serves as the community’s anchor, the film weaves together harsh reality with the quiet poetry of Prague’s orchards and brownfields.
Homeless Blues is not only a story about homelessness — it is a portrait of human dignity, resilience, and the enduring search for belonging.
