Synopsis
Agata is an anxious mother. Andrea is a wayward daughter. Anselmo is an irreproachable father and husband who feels the fragile balance of his family crumbling. In an attempt to escape a suffocating routine, he ends up trapped in a crime he did not commit. “AncheSeLiOdio” is a merciless portrait of a family imploding, a bitter reflection on the fragility of bonds and on the price one pays when the desire to escape turns into imprisonment.
It only takes a moment to lose everything: the desire to escape from the daily routine of a respectable man leads him to find himself entangled in a brutal murder.
This film is the ninth film by director Mauro John Capece and closes his “sensation trilogy” (that of the unsolved or poorly resolved crime). But this film acts as a bridge towards new discourses, in fact we return to talking about important themes linked to the complex family disintegration dynamics of the post-covid world.
Anselmo, a good father, finding himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, is held responsible for a brutal murder and is unjustly arrested in front of his family.
Anselmo is an honest person, a hard worker, the only income producer in his family, since Agata, his wife, is a housewife by choice.
Agata is a very beautiful and cultured woman, very sweet with her three daughters, but terribly dissatisfied and deeply sad. The happiness that reigned in the first years of marriage is now far away and love has definitively given way to a tiring routine with no prospects. Anselmo, perpetually absent and with his head in the clouds, seems not to realize the negative emotional dynamics and the difficulties that are devouring the entire family. Anselmo has never cheated on his wife, but the situation in the family has become truly unbearable.
On the advice of his work colleagues, he decides to buy a sex ad magazine and go to an escort for the first time.
But the more Anselmo tries to free himself from the web of his family, the more he is sucked into it.
Anselmo tries to cheat on his wife but fails because of something he would never have imagined: a brutal man breaks into the apartment of the escort Miriana, hits her violently with a baseball bat causing her death, and runs away.
Anselmo becomes the main suspect for the murder.
In his search for freedom, Anselmo therefore encounters a bigger prison.
AncheSeLiOdio sees the destruction of a seemingly happy family due to a betrayal by the father of the family, a betrayal that has not even been consummated.
It is a complex and simple film at the same time that aims to reveal lies and distortions present in contemporary society and seems to be a frank and exaggerated metaphor of what happens in many families where the marriage continues despite many betrayals and lies.
