MEMORIE SU PELLICOLA

Synopsis
“Memorie su Pellicola” (Memories on Film) is a voyage into film history, born from the restoration of two Classics of Indonesian cinema. Through the restoration tales of “Lewat Djam Malam” [After the Curfew] (1954) and “Tjoet Nja’ Dhien” (1988), this documentary ventures into Indonesia’s Audiovisual Archives and what taking care of a country’s film heritage entails. These two films, both screened at the Cannes Film Festival, found new life through restoration, and are proof of what collaboration can accomplish. Having a National Film Archive is not enough to take care of a country’s film heritage, and saving the world’s audiovisual heritage is only possible thanks to individuals and institutions willing to do anything possible.
