Synopsis
The short film Exercisebook Girl is a coming-of-age story about a second-year high school boy in the 1980s who runs away from home. Set against the backdrop of a violent classroom, an exam-centered school system, and a newly built satellite city filled with massive apartment complexes, the boy finds comfort and healing when he meets a girl from the cover of a popular notebook design of that era—and eventually says goodbye to her.
Unlike traditional filmmaking, this film was created entirely using generative AI tools. All visuals were generated with image-based AI such as ChatGPT, Sora, and Midjourney, then edited in Photoshop. These were converted into video using video generation AI tools like Kling, Runway, and Sora. The final edit and sound design were completed using Premiere Pro and After Effects. Sound effects were either generated using ElevenLabs or sourced from Sony’s Sound Ideas library. The soundtrack features music from Sanulrim albums released in the 1980s.
