Chindi Pakad

Synopsis
This is the story of the ragpickers of Maharashtra—people who earn their livelihood by sorting through garbage in dumping grounds.
Have we ever truly thought about where they stand in our society today? What would happen to our so-called “beautiful and civilized” society if, even for a single day, they
went on strike?
Every morning, we discard our waste without a second thought.
Yet, that very garbage becomes the means of survival for someone else. Their homes, their families, and their lives are built around the waste we throw away. In spite of living in such hardship, they help us maintain a clean and healthy environment.
Still, we—members of the so-called educated and civilized society—choose to ignore them. We keep them outside the
boundaries of our minds and hearts. Today, the government has taken steps to improve the lives of these underprivileged people, aiming to provide them with better living conditions and permanent housing. But even in the face of such progress, some corrupt and educated individuals, with the help of antisocial forces, are trying to evict these people and push them back into despair.
Through this film, we make a heartfelt effort to give the whole world society the right direction and message—to awaken compassion, and to stand beside these poor, forgotten souls who have, silently, been supporting our lives all along.
