Synopsis
Anna, a fragile and isolated woman shaped by childhood trauma, lives in an imaginary world anchored by her only companion—an imaginary sister. When she’s called back to the office, she escapes the pressure by using her estranged father’s death as a reason to leave town and settle his affairs. A car breakdown forces her to make the trip with Simone, a quirky, homeless schoolteacher who secretly lives in the loaner they’re sharing.
As the unlikely pair journey together, Anna is pushed to confront her buried past—including haunting memories symbolized by baby goats—and gradually sheds her emotional armor. Guided by Simone’s unfiltered honesty and offbeat humor, Anna begins to reject corporate conformity and embrace her eccentricity.
By the end of the journey, Anna transforms her lifelong yearning for escape into something tangible: a bookmobile she and Simone launch together—a rolling sanctuary of stories, joy, and connection that reflects the life Anna never thought she deserved.
