Synopsis
In this short film, we follow Uno, an elderly man on an archipelago island on the west coast, during a summer day. The loneliness is broken in the opening scene when he receives a call from his daughter and prepares to be picked up to attend his wife’s funeral. In parallel, we also get to follow Wille, a young summer guest on the same island. He comes in from a fishing trip with his friend Adam when a boy from the swimming school curiously approaches. The swimming teacher Lisa arrives to collect the boy and greets Wille, who immediately falls for her. The story alternates between Uno, who is preparing to say goodbye to the love of his life, and the budding romance between Wille and Lisa. The film ends with Uno’s farewell at the coffin, while Lisa gives Wille hope for future love.
The film explores the cyclical nature of life, loss, and endings alongside hope and new beginnings. It also reflects a changing society where the local population is slowly disappearing, along with the local culture, lifestyle, and dialects.
